Gran Canaria Peaks 2027

Maspalomas, Gran Canaria

Seven days of road cycling in Gran Canaria, the "miniature continent", based the whole trip in Maspalomas on the south coast. You land on the 24th and we'll pick you up to settle into the hotel; from the next day on, five road stages take you through every landscape the island has to offer, with no need to change hotels along the way. Stage 1 (90 km, 1,770 m D+) climbs to Ayacata, at the foot of the Roque Nublo, up through the Mogán valley. Stage 2 is the queen stage of the week: 122 km and 2,940 m of climbing that almost touch the Pico de las Nieves, followed by a spectacular descent through the Barranco de Guayadeque. Stage 3 (120 km, 1,821 m D+) climbs to the Roque Nublo again, this time via the wilder, quieter western side, weaving through ravines and hillside villages. Stage 4 is the transition day, 115 rolling kilometres through the island's southeast, perfect for resting the legs without giving up on the scenery. And Stage 5 closes the week with the biggest challenge: 164 km and 3,230 m of climbing to the roof of Gran Canaria, the Pico de las Nieves, at 1,950 m, with a 9-hour time limit. Every stage starts and finishes in Maspalomas, so there's no need to switch hotels during the whole stay: you head out each morning at 9am, ride through ravines, pine forests, endless viewpoints and mountain villages, and return each afternoon to the same base on the coast. The 30th, the last day of the trip, is left free, to choose between a trip into Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, the island's capital, or heading straight home; the hotel-to-airport transfer is included, and any other activity that day can be booked separately as an extra. A long week built for road cyclists who want real demands -stages topping 3,000 m of elevation gain- combined with the comfort of sleeping in the same hotel every night, in a setting where the scenery changes completely each day: Atlantic coastline, deep ravines, volcanic peaks and whitewashed inland villages.
